Together we are...

We look forward to welcoming you to Oldbrook First School and Nursery.  Please do not send your child to school if they are displaying symptoms of Coronavirus.  Seek advice from the NHS and book a test.  Face Coverings must be worn when entering the school grounds and site.

Welcome to Oldbrook First School

Headteacher Welcome

We hope you will find this website helpful and informative, and that it will help you feel confident in entrusting your child's first few years of education to our school.

We hope your child will be very happy at our school, and that you and your family will enjoy being part of our community. Parental involvement in school life is welcomed and encouraged, as we believe that an active partnership between home and school provides valuable support for children in their early years of education and learning.

Our aim is to make the site as useful, fun and informative as possible so if you have any suggestions as to how we may be able to improve the site please feel free to make them by contacting us. If you would like to find out more about the school then please contact Mrs Preen in the school office to arrange a visit.

Kirk Hopkins - Headteacher

Update

Additional Measures Now in Place

Thank you for your continued support in following our schools arrangements to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

New restrictions are now in place following the new variant Omicron.  Please note the following:

Face Coverings are compulsory on public transport and in shops.  Please wear a mask when entering the school site at morning drop off and pick up.

If returning from overseas travel, a PCR test must be taken followed by self-isolation until a negative result is received.

Individuals arriving in England from red list countries must follow the red list rules.

All contacts of suspected Omicron cases must self-isolate for ten days, regardless of their vaccination status.

Thank you for working in partnership to keep our community safe.

We have received notice from Vicky Head, Director of Public Health, informing us that the rates of infection among school-aged children has significantly increased, therefore additional measures are being put in place in all schools and colleges from immediate effect to reduce transmission and keep educational disruption as low as possible.  Please see attached a letter to parents/carers from Vicky Head.

A whole school risk assessment and action plan has been produced and agreed by the Governing Board to ensure that measures are in place in line with Government and the Department of Education guidelines for the academic year 2021 -2022. These measures are in place to try to reduce the transmission to families and the wider community however there is still an unknown level or risk which we cannot control. The procedures and processes are to be followed by the whole school community which are linked to the risk assessment which can be found below.

Please note that if your child displays any signs of COVID-19:

  • A high temperature (this also includes feeling hot to touch on the chest or back).
  • A new continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours.
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different than usual.

Then they will need to take a PCR test (Tests can be booked here.) and self-isolate until the results area available. If you have recently travelled abroad please telephone school and check the updated information for self-isolation before returning your child back to school.

Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards

Mr Hopkins - Headteacher
Mrs Haines - Chair of Governors
